The 2010 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships (50m) are full in preparation mode, after an official site visit yesterday in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Taking place on 22 February, representatives from the IPC Management Team, the appointed Technical Delegate Susan Prasad, and the Local Organizing Committee discussed the achievements and the next steps regarding overall organization of the World Championships.

The successful site visit in Eindhoven also included the host broadcaster and an MSL Representative, who went over the needs and services to be provided at the competition.

IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez said that the Local Organizing Committee has clearly shown strong development.
“There is still a lot of work to be done, but it is very exciting to see the progress already underway,” Mr. Gonzalez said. “Athletes and spectators will have a great experience in Eindhoven this summer.”

Overall, numerous details in competition management were reviewed, together with the Sport Forum and protocol events. The Local Organizing Committee said they will continue in further preparations to make this event the best possible for athletes and spectators.

The 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships will take place from 15-21 August 2010, at the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. A total of around 800 athletes from 57 different countries are planning to compete in the big event.

Previously held in 2006 in Durban, South Africa, the World Championships occur every four years. The 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships will be the fifth instalment.
