Source: IPC
International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming continues wherever possible to push for growth of the Paralympic Movement, and the 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships in Reykjavik, Iceland, this October are no exception.
The competition this year is bringing in hundreds of athletes from around Europe, who undoubtedly will see it as preparation for the next Games in London. The Championships in Reykjavik will also be welcoming the last minute entry decision of Azerbaijan, who will have two athletes competing. Azerbaijan has yet to compete in either major IPC Swimming Championships or the Paralympic Games, and in order to further develop their Swimming athletes at home; the Championships present an ideal opportunity for the country. With Azerbaijan, a total of 78 nations around the world are now active in Swimming!
IPC Swimming officially welcomes the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Azerbaijan to our sport!
